Media literacy through collaborative production

Fair Use and Media Education

February 28, 2007 by Andy

Andy Carvin's excellent learning.now blog at pbs.org has a great article today called Achieving a Consensus on Fair Use and Media Literacy.

Should we be allowed to use copyrighted material in teaching and learning media literacy? This issue is obviously crucial to TMS, and media educators the world over. As Andy says:

Today's students, who have grown up surrounded by mashup culture, don’t think twice about incorporating other people’s content into their work, but teachers and administrators get very nervous.

By the way, note that the learning.now blog is one of many media literacy news feeds that are available in our news aggregator.
