PS 124 Ecology Videos at the 5th grade Film Fest
Ecology Video Still
Class 5-303 showed off their latest video productions to a packed library full of students and teachers yesterday.
5-303 made 6 different videos out of the same set of video footage that they shot on their trip to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens in February.
Their productions demonstrate the power of decision making in video editing to create infinite messages with the same source material. While some groups made documentary-style recounts of our trip, others made public service announcements on why it is important to protect our environment, and so on.
Using the Mac program iMovie in groups, they chose what clips they wanted to include, wrote and recorded narration, and added music and effects to create unique messages. After 2 rounds of screening them as a class, critiquing and re-editing, they finished their final cuts and shared them with their peers yesterday.
Here are a few of the entries:
Stay tuned in the Spring for 5-303's video about where our food comes from (currently in production)!
