List Poetry Video Still List Poetry Video Still Class 5-302 showed off their video productions to a packed library full of students and teachers yesterday.

Since December, class 5-302 has been adapting original poems into videos. The 5th grade created "List Poems" in the Fall in response to Walt Whitman's There was a Child Went Forth on their blog.

Working in pairs, they selected their five favorite lines from their list poem on the theme of Nature created by classes 5-302 and 5-303, and worked on putting them in sequence with Mr. Marsano, and Mr. Worsley, their literacy coach.

They searched the Internet for fair use images that complimented the theme and tone of their poetry lines. They matched those images together with recorded readings of their lines using iMovie software on their class computers.

When the first drafts were completed, they critiqued each other's work for clarity of the theme, reading style, and editing style, during a "works in progress" screening. After a follow-up reading workshop with Mr. Worsley, they re-recorded their voices, and added music, sound effects, video transitions and other effects.

Here are a few of the entries:

Thanks to everyone who participated! We'll have another film fest this year with the works of these experienced filmmakers, and others around the school.
