Video production at Good Shepherd Services
The Media Spot is an active member of the media education community. We build media literacy by working with youth in their learning environments, staying abreast of relevant issues, enjoying and criticizing our own media landscape. This page shows our current areas of focus. (For a history of past work, check out our productions archive.)
We're always seeking forward-thinking individuals, schools, camps, and other youth organizations to collaborate with. Please contact us to discuss how we can work with you.
PS 124
PS 124 is an elementary school in Brooklyn, New York. We've been working with them since 2006 on a 2-year residency to integrate technology and media education into their curriculum through professional development workshops, direct classroom production work, and the creation of custom resources including the framework of a comprehensive media education plan. During 2007-2008 we will focus on establishing routine technology and media literacy skill-building activities, and creating staff experts in the tech-based production types that have become the foundation of their media education curriculum.

We started working with them in 2007 to establish a school blog, consult with their technology team, and lead a school-wide professional development initiative to integrate technology and media education into their curriculum. We will spend more time helping them build their media education curriculum during the 2007-2008 school year.
